ANSI accreditation standard ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024
The ANSI accreditation standard ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 is an American National Standard (ANS) and an International Standard for personnel certification accreditation that addresses the general requirements for bodies operating certification programs for persons. The importance of these designations facilitates recognition from federal and state governments and governments outside of the United States. Its requirements set the standard to ensure the organization is operating its personnel certification program in a consistent, comparable and reliable manner. ANSI is the official representative of the United States at the delegate assembly of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and participates in the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), which creates Multilateral Recognition Agreements (MLAs) with other accrediting bodies in other countries.
“Receiving ANSI accreditation shows the Commission’s commitment to deliver internationally recognized credentials to the fitness industry and public,” said Roger Earle, MA, CSCS,*D; NSCA-CPT,*D, associate executive director of the NSCA Certification Commission. The NSCA Certification Commission was also the first fitness-related certification organization to receive accreditation through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) for both the CSCS and NSCA-CPT certification programs – and to be registered to ISO 9001:2000. |
