The NSCA is a nonprofit, educational organization established in 1978
that provides resources and opportunities for professionals in strength
and conditioning and related fields. It serves as a clearinghouse for
the dissemination of strength training and conditioning and personal training
information and is recognized as the worldwide authority on strength and
conditioning for improved physical performance. With over 26,000 members
located in over 60 countries, the NSCA draws upon its vast network of
coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, educators, researchers
and physicians to develop and present the most up-to-date information
on strength training and conditioning and personal training practices,
injury prevention and research findings.
Whatever the occupation, members are leaders in their fields and strive to advance their own careers as well as the strength and conditioning profession. NSCA members benefit from receiving the Strength and Conditioning Journal (bimonthy), the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research (quarterly) and the Bulletin newsletter (bimonthly). They also are rewarded by receiving a significant discount on NSCA Certification Commission items such as the registration fee for the certification examinations, symposia costs and exam review materials.
NSCA members also receive reduced fees for the NSCA National Conference. The National Conference features a pre-conference symposium with renowned speakers on strength training and conditioning, a career center, NSCA certification exams, a trade show full of respected fitness companies and three days of informative and in-depth sessions with some of the most respected professionals in the industry. The NSCA National Conference, held yearly, will be in Las Vegas, Nevada in July 2005.
The NSCA Coaches' College is a program designed to build, reaffirm and increase knowledge and practical application of strength and conditioning methods. Targeting all levels of sport coaches, strength coaches, sport rehab coaches and fitness professionals, this college is offered as a building block series of four courses over four years.
Members are the driving force of the NSCA and, therefore, are in a unique position to help design the future of the strength and conditioning profession. Click here to download a Membership Application or go to the NSCA's web site for more Membership Information.
