NSCA Certification Commission Increases International Presence
Lincoln, Nebraska - July 5, 2005. The NSCA Certification Commission continues to expand on its role as the worldwide leader in the strength training and conditioning and fitness certification industry by providing more international exam locations. The NSCA Certification Commission will hold exams in 12 different countries in 2005 and plans to expand further in 2006. In 2005, the NSCA Certification Commission will administer exams in Australia, Canada, England, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Singapore, South Africa and Spain.
The Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) and the NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer® (NSCA-CPT®) credentials are recognized worldwide among health and fitness employers, professors and industry leaders as the most respected and preferred fitness-related credentials. By expanding internationally, the NSCA Certification Commission strives to provide opportunities to individuals worldwide to demonstrate key characteristics of competency requirements for strength and conditioning specialists and personal trainers. By earning the difficult-to-obtain CSCS or NSCA-CPT credentials, individuals gain instant credibility and an edge in the profession over fitness professionals who have earned a less challenging or respected certification.
The NSCA Certification Commission's registration to the nationally and internationally recognized and respected ISO 9001:2000 standard is a key element in its worldwide expansion. The NSCA Certification Commission is the first and only fitness certification organization to earn international recognition for its quality management system by meeting all the requirements of the ISO 9001:2000 standard. Achieving ISO 9001:2000 registration validates the NSCA Certification Commission's commitment to a quality management system and provides a sense of confidence among its candidates and certificate holders.
Additionally, the NSCA Certification Commission is the only fitness-related certifying agency to have credentials accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) since 1993. The NCCA measures the ability of certifying organizations in any industry to accurately discriminate between qualified and unqualified professionals.
To earn NCCA accreditation, the NSCA Certification Commission demonstrated the ability to develop and administer psychometrically sound examinations. Because both the CSCS and NSCA-CPT certifications are accredited, fitness professionals who hold one or both of the credentials have the dual distinction of knowing they are competently certified by an organization that has also demonstrated a high level of credibility.
