NSCA Certification Commission Adds Volume 3 to Practice Exam Series
Lincoln, Nebraska - November 9, 2005. The NSCA Certification Commission is excited to announce the addition of a third volume of the Practice Exam preparation series. Exam candidates can use Practice Exam, Volume 3 with the NSCA Certification Commission's existing preparation materials to increase the likelihood of passing the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) or NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer® (NSCA-CPT®) exam. The Practice Exam, Volume 3 is $31.95 for NSCA members and $39.00 for nonmembers and is available in both paper and online formats.
The NSCA Certification Commission's Practice Exams allow exam candidates to prepare for the nature and scope of the CSCS or NSCA-CPT examination. The Practice Exam series enables exam candidates to experience the examination format, discover the level of difficulty of the questions and receive valuable feedback on their level of preparedness before taking the examination. The Practice Exams are approximately one-third of the length of the actual exams and closely mimic the CSCS or NSCA-CPT exam's format and content. The Practice Exams identify the location of excerpts within the Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning, Second Edition, NSCA's Essentials of Personal Training, Essentials of Personal Training Symposium, videos and other related articles that focus on the content covered in each question to assist with the candidate's preparation.
Like the CSCS or NSCA-CPT certification exams, the Practice Exams consist of an exam booklet and video. The video components assess the candidate's knowledge in topics including program design, exercise technique, anatomy and biomechanics. A self-assessment profile is included with each Practice Exam to allow exam candidates to identify their strong and weak areas of preparation, and a scoring form compares their Practice Exam results to statistically similar scores that are required to pass the exams.
The three volumes of the Practice Exam series are unique from one another to provide exam candidates with a diverse exposure to sample exam questions. After earning their certification, candidates who pass the CSCS or NSCA-CPT exam can submit the "Practice Exam Comment Form" included at the end of each booklet to the NSCA Certification Commission for 0.5 CEU.
The addition of Practice Exam, Volume 3 benefits CSCS and NSCA-CPT certificate holders, too. Certified individuals may earn 1.0 CEU by taking a Practice Exam and submitting the "Answer Form" or "CEU Request Form" with a $10 processing fee to the NSCA Certification Commission. The CEUs earned from the Practice Exams may also be applied toward the Recertified with Distinction requirements.

The NSCA Certification Commission, which is the certifying agency for the National Strength and Conditioning Association, offers two credentials for fitness professionals. The Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT) certifications are considered the Credentials of Distinction in the strength training and conditioning and personal training professions. The NSCA Certification Commission is the only fitness-related organization to offer credentials nationally accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) since 1993.
