NSCA Certification Commission Announces 2006 Ambassador Award Winner
Lincoln, Nebraska - July 14, 2006. The NSCA Certification Commission Executive Council is proud to announce that the 2006 Ambassador Award recipient is Equinox Fitness Clubs. David Harris, National Director of Personal Training for Equinox Fitness Clubs, accepted the award during the Certification Reception on July 13 at the 2006 NSCA National Conference in Washington, D.C. This is the sixth time the Ambassador Award has been presented to an individual or organization that has made exemplary efforts to promote the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) and the NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer® (NSCA-CPT®) credentials to students, employees or consumers.
In July 2005, Equinox Fitness and the NSCA Certification Commission developed a partnership making the CSCS and NSCA-CPT credentials the "Certifications of Choice" for Equinox personal trainers. Equinox now requires all of its personal trainers to register for the CSCS or NSCA-CPT certification(s) within six months of their hire date. Since the agreement was reached, 130 Equinox employees have earned the NSCA-CPT and 66 have earned the CSCS.

Previous winners of the NSCA Certification Commission's Ambassador Award include: Dr. Anthony Abbott, CSCS,*D; NSCA-CPT,*D from Fitness Institute International; Mr. Bob Esquerre, NSCA-CPT from Esquerre Fitness Group in Cincinnati; Men’s Health magazine; Ms. Marilyn Moffat, CSCS from the New York University Department of Physical Therapy and Ms. Sheila King from the UCLA Extension.

The NSCA Certification Commission, the certifying agency for the National Strength and Conditioning Association, offers two credentials for fitness professionals. The Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT) certifications are considered the Credentials of Distinction in the strength training and conditioning and personal training professions. The NSCA Certification Commission is the only fitness-related organization to offer credentials nationally accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) since 1993.
