NSCA Certification Commission Partners With Gold's Gym

Lincoln, Nebraska - August 18, 2006. The NSCA Certification Commission has developed an alliance with Gold's Gym International to provide a discount on the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) and NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer® (NSCA-CPT®) exams to Gold's Gym personal trainers. This will allow all Gold's Gym personal trainers to register for the CSCS and NSCA-CPT certification exams at a discounted rate and receive exclusive discounts on exam preparation materials.

The NSCA Certification Commission and Gold's Gym see this alliance as an opportunity for Gold's Gym to demonstrate their trainers' expertise because the CSCS and NSCA-CPT credentials are the most respected and preferred in the fitness industry. The agreement, commenced on June 21, 2006, allows Gold's Gym to host exams at its locations for its personal trainers, which gives Gold's Gym personal trainers the convenience of a local exam site.

The NSCA-CPT credential is for personal trainers who work with both active and sedentary clients in one-on-one situations. NSCA-CPT credential holders work in a variety of settings including health and fitness clubs, schools and clients' homes. Today, more than 8,500 fitness professionals hold the NSCA-CPT credential. The CSCS credential is for professionals who design and implement strength training and conditioning programs for athletes in a team setting. More than 20,000 strength coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, physicians, chiropractors, researchers and educators hold the CSCS credential. Additionally, many personal trainers who want to add sport-specific knowledge to their background often choose the CSCS credential. The CSCS and NSCA-CPT were the first fitness-related certifications to earn accreditation by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) in 1993 and 1996, respectively.
