NSCA Certification Commission Offering Discount to ERP Schools

Lincoln, Nebraska - January 19, 2007. The NSCA Certification Commission is offering a $25 discount off of the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) and/or NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer® (NSCA-CPT®) exam registration fees for students enrolled in colleges/universities that are part of the NSCA's Education Recognition Program (ERP). This offer provides students with an opportunity to enhance their career choices and motivates them to earn the Credentials of Distinction.

Students enrolled at ERP schools can receive the discount by obtaining their school's special ERP Discount Code from the ERP Program Director at their school. A list of schools participating in the ERP can be found at www.nsca-lift.org/ERP/schools.shtml. Once the students have obtained the code, they can register for the exam of their choice at www.nsca-cc.org.

The NSCA's ERP consists of three separate recognition programs: the ERP Strength and Conditioning Program, the ERP Personal Training Program and the ERP Graduate Studies Program. An academic institution's acceptance into the NSCA's ERP signifies the institution has met the NSCA's educational guidelines. To qualify, colleges and universities must offer a degree related to strength training and conditioning or personal training. The ERP has recognized 77 schools in the U.S.

The ERP Strength and Conditioning Program recognizes the colleges and universities that offer at least a bachelor's degree with an emphasis in strength training and conditioning. The ERP Personal Training Program recognizes the colleges and universities that offer two- and four-year educational programs in personal training. The ERP Graduate Studies Program recognizes the colleges and universities that offer at least a master's degree related to strength training and conditioning or sport performance.

Additionally, the NSCA Certification Commission will provide ERP recognized schools a $25 support allocation for each student in their program who takes advantage of the registration fee discount. Recognized schools can use the $25 department payment to provide resources for students. In addition to the $25 discount for students and $25 support allocation, ERP recognized schools receive an annual listing in the Strength and Conditioning Journal, a searchable listing and link to the institution's program on the NSCA's Web site and the ability to highlight the institution's ERP recognition in marketing and collateral materials.

Students and schools interested in learning more about the NSCA Certification Commission's exams or the ERP discount can call toll-free 888-746-2378, e-mail commission@nsca-cc.org or visit www.nsca-cc.org. Schools interested in applying for ERP recognition should contact the NSCA Headquarters toll-free at 800-815-6826 or nsca@nsca-lift.org.
