NSCA Certification Commission Partners With YMCA of Metro Atlanta
Lincoln, Nebraska - August 2, 2007. The NSCA Certification Commission has developed an alliance with YMCA of Metro Atlanta to provide a discount on the NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer® (NSCA-CPT®) exam to YMCA of Metro Atlanta personal trainers. This will allow all YMCA of Metro Atlanta personal trainers to register for the NSCA-CPT certification exam at a discounted rate and receive discounts on exam preparation materials.
The agreement, commenced in April 2007, allows YMCA of Metro Atlanta to host exams for its personal trainers, which gives them the convenience of a local exam site. Because the NSCA-CPT credential is the most respected and preferred in the fitness industry, the NSCA Certification Commission and YMCA of Metro Atlanta see this alliance as an opportunity for YMCA of Metro Atlanta to demonstrate their trainers' expertise.
"In my experience, individuals holding a certification from the NSCA Certification Commission are more knowledgeable about exercise and its impact on health. Also, their high ethics and concern for the well-being of their athletes/clients is admirable," said Gustavo Duran-Monge, CSCS, a wellness manager at the YMCA of Metro Atlanta.
The NSCA-CPT credential is for personal trainers who work with both active and sedentary clients in one-on-one situations. NSCA-CPT credential holders work in a variety of settings including health and fitness clubs, schools and clients' homes. Today, more than 10,000 fitness professionals hold the NSCA-CPT credential. The NSCA-CPT was the first personal training certification to earn accreditation by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) in 1996.

The NSCA Certification Commission, the certifying agency for the National Strength and Conditioning Association, offers two credentials for fitness professionals. The Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT) certifications are considered the Credentials of Distinction in the strength training and conditioning and personal training professions.
